Guts world tour: what actually happens behind the scenes?
Olivia Rodrigo has officially begun her ‘GUTS’ world tour which started on the 23rd of February 2024 in Palm Springs, California according to The Cosmopolitan and is due to finish on the 14th of August in Los Angeles 2024. But what actually happens behind the scenes of the 57-date tour? What happens behind the scenes of any concert? Read on to find out more…
We at the Young Journalist Academy have chosen to use the O2 Arena in London as our example of a massive concert venue. The venue can hold up to 20,000 people for the world’s biggest live events and held 216 events over the course of 2023. In a video posted by Adam Lambert in 2018, we are shown a brief glimpse of the different kinds of catering hidden behind the walls of the arena, when Lambert takes us on a walk to the kitchen where he describes “gorgeous lighting, but even better food”.
In 2020, the venue hosted an ‘Access All Areas’ guide tour which gave fans a sneak-peek around the backstage areas where many musical and sports legends had been in previous years. The tour was described by The O2 website to have given glimpses ‘into artist dressing rooms and sports locker rooms, VIP areas and a look into one of the most exclusive suites.’ It is also advertised that tour guides took fans ‘on a journey of an artist’s schedule and on their pre-show routine’. This had many positive reviews on platforms such as TripAdvisor and Reviewcenter. The O2 is truly described to be an amazing venue, if you’re wanting to find out more about the arena, go to https://www.theo2.co.uk/ !
So, I guess Rodrigo will be in for the time of her life as she travels through North America and Europe! I really hope you consider booking tickets as the tour is said to be ‘thrilling and raucous’! On behalf of the Boston High School Newsroom, we wish Olivia good luck with her remaining shows!
